Slowly getting back going with paintwork after a long layoff due to a full studio renovation. This one was again painted on a prepped mounted birch panel, all with Createx Illustration Colors and Iwata airbrushes.
This was the beginning of this adventure, all the tools are there to work but not a lot of polish to the space.
After some work on framing and subfloor. Not ideal to work around the studio area but both jobs had to get done while finishing up customer jobs.
Getting very close at this point, the walls complete and painted, the flooring in and awaiting window casings and baseboards. Some very good lighting installed, as there is never enough quality light to paint by. After this point it will be the new cabinets and storage areas, followed by setting up the studio once again.
Painted a sunflower for my lovely wife while on a road trip, this one on clayboard, using Createx Illustration colors.
Well this is certainly one of those times where this will exist as a permanent work in progress. Not because I did not finish, but rather that I neglected to photograph the finished product at the time of completion. I am left with these sad and partially focused cell phone pictures to commemorate the work.
This one was fun and done again using Createx Illustration colors, over a combination of Autoborne sealer and Wicked Opaque base colors.
This was a relatively quick freehand study of a skull using Createx Illustration Colors, and an Iwata HP-CH. There was no reference used for this one, as it was done to explore some lighting effects for an upcoming project. Fun to work on the black illustration board, which is a different surface than I normally work on.
Some quick paint work on a guitar headstock. Black basecoat over Autoborne Sealer, followed by tattered Irish flag with Wicked Detail colors and AutoAir Pearl White lettering.
Just finishing off a painting of a monochromatic elephant painted with Createx Illustration colors on a prepped birch panel. The transparent sepia lets the natural woodgrain show through and adds a nice aged appearance.
Finished up a bass guitar for a customer. A complete job including a pearlescent basecoat and with Ice Pearl mid clear. Ghosted background images topped with logo and lettering. All a combination of Autoborne sealers, Autoair basecoats, Wicked detail colors and HOK clear and Ice Pearl.
Just finished and delivered another goal mask, a fun mask to paint with a very free and open concept. All painted with Wicked Detail colors and finished with House of Kolor clear.
Had fun painting this one for my lovely daughter's birthday, sort of an island inspired tattoo image which worked quite well with the natural grain of the birch panel. All painted with Createx Illustration Colors and an Iwata HP-CH.
